Director of hit comedy series, ‘Kalybos’, Kofi Asamoah is defending actors in English movies after they were criticized as reciting poetry and not really acting films.

According to Kofi Asamoah, if an actor seems to be reciting poetry it could be on the instructions of the director.

The English-speaking movie industry came under attack from local-language movie actor Samuel Ofori.

Samuel Ofori criticized his English-speaking colleagues while reacting to attacks that the local-language movie industry, known as Kumawood produces poor movies.

But speaking on Hitz’s ‘’Entertainment This Week with MzGee”, Kofi Asamoah has explained that some movie scripts require that they are recited exactly as they are.

But in many cases, actors have room to express themselves using the script as merely a guide.

Kofi Asamoah populary known as Kofas does not believe actors need to obtain professional training to excel in the movie industry.

He maintains that some people are talented enough to slot into acting and grow on the job.

“There are people who naturally come out talented.….when you put them in a certain character they will deliver”.

The young film maker noted that "it is possible to find many professionals whose acting skills are bad”.

Kofi Asamoah believes the focus of film-making in Ghana should be good content and not professionally trained actors.

"I rather think we should be able to make our screen plays better, a lot more interesting and engaging so that even when an actor is reciting, it will look real and believable" Kofas said.
