Authorities at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology – KNUST have set up an independent investigative body to probe circumstances, under which certain male students of the College of Arts, last Saturday attacked hip-life artiste Mzbel and fondled her while she was on stage on the campus.
Dean of students at the University, Professor Emmanuel Frimpong confirmed the institution of the committee on Tuesday but declined to further comment on the work of the committee, until it completed its investigations.
But a source at the University say that any student found culpable would be severely punished to serve as a deterrent to others.
Mzbel is yet to lodge a formal complaint with the Police in Kumasi. Mzbel was stripped naked of her tiny performance attire, which eyewitnesses branded as very seductive and suggestive, and torn into pieces after she refused to repeat a performance.
An eyewitness told myjoyonline that Mzbel was attacked when she was leaving the stage after her performance.
The students had insisted she do an encore but she declined since there were other artistes backstage waiting for their turn to perform.
The students then told her they would not allow her to leave the stage if she would not perform. But some students intervened and tried sneaking her out.
But they were unfortunate-some of the students who had insisted on her performing good wind of the move and attacked her in the process stripping her almost naked.
