On Friday October 5, at the Accra International Conference Centre, something unprecedented in the history of music reality shows would happen in Ghana.

Four underground musicians would be competing for an amount of GH¢100,000 and a year's promotional package. The first runner-up would also walk home with a cash amount of GH¢50,000 and a year's promotional package.

Naterial, Chiki, Atimbila and Miriam were the final four contestants who have made it to the finals of the MTN Hit Maker music reality show. What made this particular competition unique was that, the contestants would be performing songs which they composed.

Indeed, for the 12 or so weeks they have been in the competition, MTN has sponsored them to record a professionally produced song week after week. Impliedly, they each walked away with a complete album produced and registered in their names—a novelty that has never happened in the history of music reality shows.

Farmhouse Productions, headed by Ivan Quarshiga, was the company in charge of the entire production. He told BEATEWAVES the October 5 showdown would be a night to remember forever.

He revealed that each of the contestants would be allowed to perform with a mentor of their choice.

Ivan said Naterial would be rocking the stage with Samini; Chiki would be performing with Guru; Atimbilla with Kwaw Kese and Miriam with Ohemaa Mercy.

Judges for the competition were Bessa Simons, a seasoned producer and keyboardist who was also the vice president of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Ofie Kodjoe, a renowned singer and composer and Zapp Mallet, Ghana's celebrated sound engineer and producer.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians had the opportunity to vote for any of the final four by typing the person's name and sending it to MTN short code 1327.
