DEMONSTRATION:
Music Council of Ghana to lead Delegation of Music/Creative Arts Stakeholders to Present Petition to the President of the Republic of Ghana

After waiting patiently for the Government through the Ministry of Chieftaincy & Culture to invite all stakeholders in the music/creative industry for appropriate disbursement of the Ghc2, 000,000 budgetary allocation from the government of Ghana to the entire creative industry, we are indeed heartbroken and refuse to accept any such criteria or justification which warranted the total disbursement of this whole sum to one union of musicians called MUSIGA by the Ministry of Finance in collaboration with the Chieftaincy Ministry.

MUSIGA does not represent the interest of the entirety of the Ghanaian Music/Creative industry and we don't see any error or oversight that some may want to use to cover the role played by both the Ministries of Finance & Chieftaincy/Culture towards the processing and facilitation of this very questionable disbursement which His Excellency, the President of the Republic of Ghana has openly condemned and disassociated himself from the dubious payment of the said amount to MUSIGA.

As advocates of the interests of Musicians in Ghana, we hereby call on all Leaders and members of different Music/Arts/Cultural groupings in Ghana to come out in your numbers and be part of the demonstration on Monday, the 24th of September, 2012. This Demonstration will commence from the Abrantie Spot in Lapaz at 11.am, to the Chieftaincy Ministry, Parliament House and the Osu Castle where we shall be presenting a petition to the Government for immediate actions on this crisis.

Signed:
Justice Cletus
General Secretary - Music Council of Ghana
