Tens of thousands of people in Ghana attended the state funeral for President John Atta Mills in the nation's capital Accra. The president who was known as a man of peace died after an illness in July.

Some 18 African heads of state and US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton witnessed the ceremony in Accra's Independence Square.

The successful event was aired on various television stations for all to witness. Minister Sonnie Badu's music was used during the president's send off. This came as an honour to the patriotic international star who said:

''l am very honoured that my music was used for the president's send off, it is the only part of me that could be present as l was unable to be in Ghana at the time of his funeral. It is indeed a great honour as he was a very great man and a man of peace. If someone had once told me that my music would one day be used to comfort grieving hearts at a president's funeral l would have never believed it. It is a privilege to have had a peace of me bid farewell and play a part in all this''.

''I pray that my music will continue to touch many people and comfort many hearts. It is my wish that it will continue to comfort the president's family during this trying time''

The head of state who died at the age of 68 was buried on the 10th of august 2012. May his soul rest in perfect peace.
