Information reaching GhanaSuperStars.Com has it that 4 police man who were embarking on an anti piracy call together with the film distributors and Marketers Association were rallied, razzed and severely flogged by unknown pirates around Kantamanto market in Accra Central.
Since the police were not ready to grant we at GhanaSuperStars.Com audience on the case, we got in touch with Mr. Mustapha Adams, the film Marketers and distributors President.
He revealed to GhanaSuperStars.Com that they have formed some surreptitious antipiracy amalgamation which helps them to detect where most of the films produced are pirated before they (the movies) enter the market.
Throughout this month, they realized most of the pirated films were not coming from Togo or China as perceived by many but rather, from a secluded outfit very close to James Town post office.
He added that an informant assisted them in getting hold of one Mr. Alex Nyantekyi who happens to be the main distributor for those who pirate Ghanaian films in Accra. After intense surveillance, they managed to get his corporal self in possession of some of the pirated CDs.
“After we caught him, he admitted he sells pirated CDs but rather he is not the one who pirates them so he is going to lead us to the pirates. Together with the police we moved to the secret place but to our utter dismay, his cohorts ambushed us and started beating us till the police called in backups to assist us but in the process, Alex Nyantekyi, the suspect, escaped” said Mr. Mustapha Adams.
Mr. Mustapha Adams appealed to the general public and GhanaSuperStars.Com to assist in apprehending Alex Nyantekyi and also advised all pirates to eschew pirating intellectual properties in any form or kind. “In Ghana, piracy is a crime!” Mr. Mustapha Adams concluded.
