JUN 25, 2012 LISTEN

Many entertainment industry pundits and local artistes have in the past bemoaned the poor treatment meted out to them by event organizers as against the first class treatment doted out to their international counterparts during mega concerts staged in the country.

Last year Empire Entertainment took a step in changing the norm, when they ensured that all local performing artistes were given accommodation in a first class hotel just as their Nigerian counterparts, days before the main event.

This according to the most of the artistes, contributed immensely to the exciting performances on the night as the first class treatment meted out to them served as a major motivation to please the crowd and organizers alike.

This year, once again organizers of the Ghana Meets Nigeria concert have revealed that, they will be moving a step further in their quest to ensure that local artistes are given the star treatment they deserve.

Last Saturday night, Empire Entertainment took delivery of a number of top of the range luxury automobiles brought into the country just for the concert on the 30th of June by highly reputed luxury automobile company, Euro Tour. The company is partnering with Empire Entertainment to give all artistes on the bill an experience to remember.

The high-end cars mostly in black include the Rolls Royce Ghost model, Bentleys, and Maserratis. The cars are to be used in transporting all performing artistes both local and international, days to the event. All artistes will therefore be chauffeured to the venue instead of going through the stress of having to drive their own cars.

This move, according to Empire Entertainment, is to ensure that all artistes are comfortable and also meet their schedules for the concert. It is also aimed at setting a new trend for other event organizers that will help boost the local entertainment industry.

Another introduction would be the artiste lounge, which would replace the regular backstage set up known for Ghanaian concerts. Performing artistes will therefore be feted in grand style before and after their performances on the night.

This is aimed at ensuring that artistes from both countries are comfortable and well catered for to energize them to give off their very best performances on the night as well break certain norms in the event business. Last year, Ghana Meets Naija became the very first concert to give all local performing acts hotel accommodation days before the event just as is usually provided for international artistes performing in Ghana; the artiste lounge is therefore another step in ensuring that local artistes are celebrated and taken care of in much the same way as their international counterparts.
