J-Town is a Channel O Africa Ghanaian VJ and a musician. His collaboration track with Ice Prince and E-Fine, 1 Plus 1, went on to number one on the Nigerian countdown. He blogs about it.
I'm sitting at home working on song called A Bottle, A Piece of Paper & A Picture of Halle Berry (Yes I have a thing for Halle, so do most men in the world – LOL) when my BB vibrates.
It was a ping from my friend Eromo from Nigeria – really cool dude.
The message read, “Congratulations, your song 1 Plus 1 Ft Ice Prince & E Fine just went #1 on the charts!”
I was very excited to let my manager know the news so I hit him up quick and told him.
My manager, Seven Xavier, is just like me when he gets good news, you would think he's not excited, but inside he's jumping for joy (hahahaha).
What we didn't realize was that we just made history with this accomplishment.
There have been some Ghanaian artists on the Nigerian countdown but none have made it to #1 till now.
That's when I really got excited because breaking into the Nigerian market is (HELLA) hard and being a hip-hop artist to do it made it much more satisfying.
Ghana is dominated by the music genre hiplife, so you would think a hiplife artiste would have been the 1st.
My team and I really put in work these past couple of months to make sure this song would spread all across the continent and world.
So shout-out to Seven, Gwem, Gafacci, Tonisha, Joey Chase and the whole Home Of Original Dreams H.O.O.D Team.
WE MADE THE TRACK GO BANG!
