Accra, 28TH May, 2012: After several stints on the Ghanaian stage, Kweku Buah, a young actor has made entry onto South Africa's movie scene. Kweku featured in the South African hit series “Scandal” on e.tv South Africa.
Kweku appeared in the soap as Kwame Buah, a young aspiring Ghanaian journalist who goes to South Africa in search of an interview with Nelson Mandela. He enlisted the help of Eddie, who knew his father, to try and get him close enough to the former president to make his dreams come true. He had hoped that by interviewing Madiba, he would gain prestige as a journalist in Ghana.
Though he did not secure the interview, he came to a realisation that there were several “Nelson Mandelas” with different names, who were making impact in their own communities. He resolved to start capturing the stories of all the change makers in his community, probably beginning with his father, who was an influential poet.
Though a cameo role, Kweku's appearance in 'Scandal' has received much acclaim among Ghanaian as well as South African viewers of the series, registering several comments on the programme's facebook page as well as a lot of tweets.
Kweku aims to be one of the best in the acting industry and as he puts it, 'push the boundaries beyond Ghana and Africa'.
Prior to his appearance in “Scandal”, Kweku Buah had appeared in several Ghanaian productions including “Things we do for love” and “Buddy Language”. He also was part of the Gold Fields/ Mandala consulting theatre production, Ghanaian-South African collaboration. He has featured in a number of television commercials. He sang and produced a victory song for the Black Stars during the AFCON 2012.
Scandal airs on e.tv Ghana every week from Tuesday to Friday, between 11:30am and midday, and in the evenings from 6:40-7:10pm.
