The chairman of the National Society of Ghana Music Producers (NASGAMP), John Mensah Sarpong, has declared that the music industry in Ghana consists of about 10 various unions and groups such as NASGAMP, GAPI, AMBRO, REPAIG, and not only  the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA).

In a statement issued, the NASGAMP chairman said two associations could not come together to set up an establishment like a copyright investment bank or fund without consulting other stakeholders in the music industry.

The statement said upon hearing the package designed by the government for the creative industry, a few individual stakeholders invited MUSIGA to the Kama Conference Centre in Accra on November 22, 2011, with the intention of establishing a copyright investment bank and fund, without involving majority of stakeholders in the music industry .

It noted that NASGAMP was very worried about this kind of attitude since 'our members have made a lot of investment into the Ghana music industry and for that matter we would not allow any selfish group of people in the Ghana music industry to destroy it.  Our association would throw our weight behind any move that has a fair representation of all stakeholders'.

GHAMBRO (the new Collective Management Organization) replaced the old CMO, COSGA because it had a fair representation of all the associations in the Ghana music industry, including the independent stakeholders.
