Kumasi, Nov. 20, GNA - Authorities of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), has admonished artistes who perform at student functions at the university to exercise decency and respect decorum.
This, according to the authorities, would help forestall incidence that cast a slur on the image of the university.
This was contained in a statement issued in Kumasi at the weekend and signed by Mr. Kobby Yebo Okrah, Deputy Registrar in-charge of Academic Affairs at the University.
The statement said in a related development, the University had sanctioned three students who were found to have been involved in the alleged assault on Nana Ekua Amoah, also known as Mzbell, a hip-life artiste on October 1, this year.
The sanctions, according to the statement followed recommendations by a committee set up to probe into the alleged assault of the artiste. The affected students are Mr. Alex Dapaah, a first year student of the Chemistry Department, Aaron Adusa Poku, a second year student of Publishing Studies and Mr. Theodore Dzokoto a third year student of Painting, both of the College of Art.
Mr. Dapaah was rusticated for four semesters, while Mr. Poku was rusticated for two semesters with Mr. Dzokoto being rusticated for two semesters.
The statement said the university also sanctioned the Executives of the Art Society and Planning Committee of the Arts Week celebrations, to undertake 20 hours of community service in either a Children's Home, Primary school or hospital during the second semester of the 2005-2006 Academic year.
Mzbell was allegedly manhandled by some students of the KNUST during the Arts Society week celebrations on Saturday, October 1 when she performed alongside other artistes. Nov. 20 05
