'Macho Rapper' knocking on hiplife door

With over 10 years of hip life, various artistes have adopted 'funny' names. 'Best Rapper Alive' or 'Rap Doctor', 'King of the Street', 'Aletse' or 'Buffalo Soldier', 'Hip Life Grandpa', 'Ghana Rap Sofour', 'Rap Heavyweight' and a whole lot of others. Though some of these names have generated unnecessary controversies, it still doesn't change the fact that they want to be known and be called as such. What comes in mind when one hears a name like 'Macho Rapper'? Obviously, one thing that comes in mind is a body builder. But why would a body builder take to rap when he can take part in Mr. Ghana Muscle competition?

These days it is very common to watch or read of the emergence of a new gospel musician. There is no single day without one hearing of the latest gospel song in Ghana. Statistics showed that in 2009, the number of hip lifers also increased.

The grand finale of the Face of Tertiary which took place at the auditorium of the Accra International Conference Centre was a dull, boring and one show which will not last longer in the minds of the audience but one new act caught the attention of the audience.

This person is a new artiste knocking on the doors of hip life with the name Macho Rapper, a name which is set to raise eyebrows. Macho Rapper is a body builder, ghetto boy, move with the guys on the streets and an underground artiste with all the muscles to partake in any edition of Mr. Ghana (his stature says it all) but has chosen to be a rapper instead. He is set to release his debut single album 'Twi Pop' featuring Castro the Destroyer & Wanlov the Kubolor.

As has been the trademark of every new artiste, Macho Rapper is also towing on the same line. He says he is bringing new classs into the hip life game. He is one interesting rapper who has his own vocabulary 'Da Boorisis'.

To him 'Da Boorisis' is actually a fusion of his image and his music, after all sandome people might like his image and not necessarily like his music and vice versa.

'Basically, am always talking about myself because am bringing new class in the game, it's all about boorisis. Boorisis simple means the fusion of my image   and my music, am actually selling my image and the music, some might like my image not the music and some might my music and not my image', he said boastfully.

Why the name Macho Rapper? A question posed to him by Nii Aryee Quaye aka DJ Brainstormer of Radio Univers 105.5 FM, a radio station at the University of Ghana. The rapper who was formerly called Okamafour the Killer said he is a rapper and a macho man hence calling himself a Macho Rapper.

'You can see, am macho and a rapper, so simple, I was then known as Okamafour (spokesperson), but I realized I have to be real, be who I am, so the fusion of the two names 'macho and rapper'.

Currently, apart from rapping, Macho Rapper is a body builder and has a gym. At least he is not one of the people who rush to come out with half baked album which will not sell. He is doing his home work well before he comes out with his debut album at Easter.

The album will have 'Wenkoma' featuring Castro and Stamina, 'Body Guide', 'Mebobou', and instrumentation of the album title 'Twi Pop'. He is also set to shoot his second video 'Hip Life Bouncer'.
