CHARTERHOUSE, the organizers of the Night of a 1000 Laughs and Music series are set to present yet another exciting edition of the popular comedy and music series on Boxing Day, to crown the year off in style and laughter.
Night of a 1009 Laughs and Music is the ninth in the annual series.
The comedians expected to issue out rib-cracking jokes guaranteed to get the whole auditorium laughing includes a veteran on the Ghanaian stage, Julius Chinwe Agwu.
The last time Julius performed in Ghana was on the same platform in July 2008.
As a young primary school pupil, Julius Agwu used to be a perpetual latecomer whose punishment was to entertain the class before being allowed to take his seat.
Little did his teachers know they were preparing him for what was to become his future career.
Today, he is one of the highly successful comedians Nigeria can boast of. He remains a favourite of the audience, owing to his versatile nature and the way he infuses comedy with music.
Also performing on December 26, 2009 at the Conference Center in Accra will be Okey Bakasi, who needs no introduction on the Ghanaian entertainment scene.
Okey is known in entertainment circles not only for being an excellent actor, but a side-splittingly funny comedian who is able to hold his own on stage.
The humour in his jokes remains with patrons long after he is off the stage because he takes his time to build the climax to his jokes through insightful narrations about real-life situations.
Although he did not set out to be a comedian when he entered the film industry, Okey stumbled onto his talent when he starred in his first comedy movie, 'Pampam'.
Omo Baba and Mike Ogbolosingha are also on the bill to perform in Ghana for the first time.
Featuring for the second time will be Ka Ninja, the young eloquent comedian whose debut in August left many hopeful about the future of the Ghanaian comedy industry.
The music section will be taken care of by the sensational 4 x4, , Jane of 'Irene and Jane fame', now known as Efya, and Bertha, winner of Stars of the Future 2009. The Night of 1009 Laughs and Music is sponsored by MTN and Royal Richester Hotel.
