Gezelle Addai crowned Miss Malaika 2009

Eighteen year old graduate of Holy Child Senior High School and aspiring lawyer, Gezelle Addai has been crowned Miss Malaika , after a keenly contested competition that tested 10 beautiful young ladies for intelligence, eloquence and poise.

The confident and ambitious young lady stood tall in the several rounds of competition to affirm her status as a firm favourite of the reality TV beauty contest, since it began some 12 weeks ago.

Among her many aspirations is to become an international journalist and a model. She won the coveted Miss Malaika Crown, a Kia Cerato saloon car, GH¢4,800 annual salary among other fantastic prizes. As part of her role as Miss Malaika, she will work as a malaria youth ambassador with the National Malaria Control Board.

20 year old student of the Central University College, Joan Amorin won the second position and was also voted as Miss Congeniality by her fellow contestants. 20 year old student of the University of Ghana, Trudy Asamaniwa Arnold came third and Victoria Massoud, a student of Regent University won the prize for Best Talent.

After putting up a good performance to win Miss Talent, Victoria bungled on answering a question regarding what necessitated the public's perception that beauty pageants are promiscuous, and whether she agreed with the perception, from MC, Chris Attoh, which disqualified her from entering the group of five.

Most of the delegates could not handle well the questions posed to them, sometimes sending the crowd into frenzy over who really deserved the crown. In the end, the make or break question that was to separate the best three from the last five settled it all. The night was filled with musical performances from Nigerian singer Wande Coal, 4x4 and Ghana's fastest rapper, Sarkodie.  Miss Malaika will return next year with a new set of ladies and excitement in Season 8.
