Nyinahin (Ash), Feb. 15 GNA - Mr Isaac Kwame Asiamah, Member of Parliament for Atwima-Mponua has petitioned the Minister of the Interior and the Attorney-General's Department to investigate circumstances that led to the release from custody of Nana Kennedy from Kyereyaase near Nyinahin and Nana Minta Marfo, Benkumhene of Sankore, who were being investigated for murder.

The two together with Yaw Donkor and Yaw Tawiah were arrested in July last year for allegedly murdering one Kwadwo Marfo from Mampong-Nsuta in the Sekyere East District of Ashanti,

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency at Nyinahin, Mr Asiamah said the case generated a lot of interest due to the circumstances under which the victim was murdered.

He questioned why the two suspects were released and said the outcome of the investigations must be made public to set the minds of the people at rest.

The MP said due to the interest the case had generated, the release of the two suspects had raised eyebrows and the people were threatening to demonstrate in protest.

Mr Asiamah said due to the reservations of the people about the release of the two suspects, a quick response from the Interior Ministry and the Attorney General's Department would strengthen the people's belief in the country's justice system.

The four suspects were alleged to have removed some parts of the victim for ritual purposes since those parts were missing on the body when police exhumed it.
