What Really Is Education?

Education What Really Is Education?
JUN 18, 2017 LISTEN

Have you ever been asked what real education is before?

Maybe it was from your son or from your daughter, or you may have asked that question yourself due to mere curiosity.

Whatever the case may be, it is necessary and equally important to know what real education is and its impact on us.

The word “educate” comes from the Latin word, “ducere” meaning to draw out or lead.

So education simply means to draw out or lead people to their potentials or gifts in life.

What this means to me is that a person (student), need to find out his/her gifts and then look for someone (teacher) who can draw that gifts out so to help him or her become a better person.

In other words, an educator (teacher) must and should be able to find out a person's (student) gifts/potentials and draws out from them so to make them a better person.

In most cases, you can identify a person's gifts by knowing their specific learning style.

You can learn more about how to identify your child's learning style from here: Copy and paste the link below into your browser and find out:

So education is not really about “PUTTING IN” as some may think rather it is about drawing out or leading a person to his or her potentials.

It is the act of helping people to learn how to do things and encouraging them to think about what they learn. It is also the means of teaching people how to find and use the information to solve their problems.

Through education, the knowledge and skills of family society, country, and of the world can be passed on from generation to generation.

With education, we can have the power and capability to be whoever and do whatever we desire. With education, we can all become special and agents of change.

Education is what helps us to improve what we consider appropriate, changes what bothers us and build upon past accomplishments. And we do all these things for one purpose: Leave a World better than the one we found.

With the development of society; education has taken many shapes, such as child education, adult education, technical education, health education, physical education and so on.

However, in general terms education can be classified into three main categories.
