RULE TO DEVELOP YOUR COMMUNITIES BUT NOT FOR YOUR PAROCHIAL INTEREST-- CHIEFS TOLD.

Chiefs in the country have been advised to divert their purpose of ruling to the development of their various towns and communities instead of focusing on their own welfare.

Nana Akomeah Ntsirakwah III ,chief of Jukwa Abrafo of the Central Region who made the call was of the view that chiefs who focussed on the developments of their communities, become happy, become healthy, gain respect and honour from their inhabitants.

Nana Ntsirakwa III, was speaking at a ceremony to commission a palace at Pretsea, a community in the Ahanta West District of the Western Region at the weekend.

According to him, being a chief does not mean one is obliged to enjoy alone the incentives, stool properties, development levies etc but rather to serve the people under one's jurisdiction by providing them with what the community needs when the resources are available.

The chief who is a medical doctor by profession gave instances where some chiefs do not involve any immediate family member or the community members in the planning and implementation of community projects because of selfish interests. He advised all Ghanaian chiefs who are guilty of such behavior to stop immediately.

He therefore congratulated the chief and the people of Pretsea for that tremendous project, adding that the chief has set up a great legacy for the community which would be remembered by all generations to come.

In his welcome address, the chief of Pretsea,NANA KOFI NYANKUM IV, noted, the construction of the palace became necessary when he realised that their old palace was in a bad state when he was reinstated after he had been destooled following misunderstanding between him and one late Ebusuapanyin Ahinkwesi, fourteen years after his maiden enstoolment in 1981.

Describing the journey as a tedious one, he said a project that they had commenced in 2004 came to square one when a severe rainstorm ripped off what they had been able to put up in 2006.

The Adumhen (executional chief) of Ahanta Traditional Area added, he was not perturbed with that misfortune because he had decided nothing could stop him from getting a decent palace for himself and his people.

According to him, with intervention of NORPALM GH. LTD, GOLDEN STAR WASSA LTD and other companies,,that they had been able to brought the project into reality.

Nana NYANKUM IV, moreover in an exclusive interview with KODWO ATA KAKRAH ABROWAH, after the ceremony, promised that the over 7billion(old cedis) building would be used for its main purpose and also remarked that there were other projects in mind to be worked on to develop the community.
