Ghana Football Association president Kwesi Nyantakyi insists Egypt is unsafe to host next month's Brazil 2014 World Cup playoff return leg.

The Black Stars are expected to travel to Cairo to face the Pharaohs on 19 November after a comprehensive 6-1 win in the corresponding fixture.

The Ghana FA wrote to FIFA requesting the match to be moved to a neutral ground and the world's football governing has set a 28 October deadline to take a decision.

Last Sunday, Egyptian police clashed with hundreds of students staging an anti-military protest at Cairo's Al-Azhar University.

Reports say the students had blocked the main road leading to the campus and threw rocks as security forces also fired tear gas to disperse them.

“My strongest conviction is that the match should be moved away from Cairo because I think security is seriously compromised in Cairo and the situation keeps escalating day in day out,” Nyantakyi told Accra-based Joy FM.

“We cannot risk the lives of our players, officials and supporters by going to Cairo. I do not think that any life lost is replaceable and so in the interest of fairness and security it is better for FIFA to look outside Egypt for a venue for the match.”
