The exploits of Kumasi Asante Kotoko in the 2012/13 Glo Premier League season received due recognition after their coronation match against Ashgold in Kumasi yesterday.
They won the grand coronation in style, beating Ashgold 2-0 to crown the season.
Kotoko stepped up their game after a scoreless first half, and that resulted in the opener in the early minutes after the break through Issah Yakubu, who made good use of a defensive error to place the ball beyond the reach of goalkeeper Robert Daboh.
Striker Seidu Bansey doubled the lead a few minutes later with a spectacular strike which drew spontaneous applause from the not-too-impressive crowd.
Earlier, the Miners, who were numerically disadvantaged due to Alhaji Sani's red card for being rude to Referee Yaw Ametepey, came close to hitting the back of the net, but goalkeepers Isaac Amoako and Soulama Abdulai frustrated their efforts.
Organizers of the league, Premier League Board (PLB) officially handed the trophy and medals to Kotoko for emerging the competition champions after recording 56 points to win their 21st league title.
