Tamale Central NDC In Disarray
The ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) risks losing the Tamale Central seat following the emergence of various independent candidates believed to be members of the party.
The incumbent Member of Parliament (MP), who doubles as Deputy Minister of Energy, Inusah Fuseini, will have to battle it out with two independent candidates believed to be members of his own party and the New Patriotic Party (NPP)'s Iddrisu Musah Superior who has since won the hearts of many.
DAILY GUIDE can confirm that Aminu Mobila, a former financier of the NDC in the Northern region and son of defeated NDC Regional Chairman, Alhaji Mobila has officially announced his intention to vie for the seat.
His posters have already been placed at vantage points within the city, and reports say he is interacting with opinion leaders, youth groups, market women and those responsible for the day to day political activities of the constituency.
In an interview with DAILY GUIDE , Mr. Aminu confirmed the reports, noting that the constituency needed a vibrant legislator at the helm of affairs.
He indicated that his interest to contest the seat was born out of the persistent calls he received from various youth groups in the NDC that were unwilling to vote for the incumbent MP.
He disclosed that he would improve education, eradicate extreme poverty in the constituency and promote critical thinking skills, social accountability, and financial independence.
'I am committed to making sure that all children of school going age have access to at least primary education, the Metropolitan Assembly, Office of the Member of Parliament (MP) and all stakeholders have an obligation, through reasonable measures, to progressively make education available and accessible to all children in the constituency,' he averred.
He lambasted political hopefuls who intend to acquire wealth to impoverish the electorate.
Mr. Aminu stated that his interaction with the youth unearthed potentials in them, stressing that but for the limited job opportunities in Tamale Central, the youth would have secured several jobs.
He stated that the area needed a politician with a political will to create the much needed opportunities for the youth and residents.
'I am going to use both my local and international contacts when voted as the MP to create equal opportunities for market women and the youth within the constituency and beyond to get lucrative employment to enable them take care of themselves and their families as well,' Mr. Aminu disclosed..
Son of Alhaji Ibrahim Mobila, one of the founding Fathers of the NDC in the Northern Region and a very influential individual in Dagbon, Mr Aminu commands a lot of respect among the youth of the party and the elderly for his generosity and entrepreneurial skills that have created jobs for a considerably number of people in the constituency.
The popularity of Mr. Aminu cuts across all sectors of the constituency, according to many politically observers in the region.
His emergence would pose as threat to the incumbent MP since his message to the people is based on job creation and justice for all in the constituency.
