09.12.2010 LISTEN

Greetings Everyone,
We are doing a special experiment with our readers. Please try to honestly answer the following questions below:

WHO IS THE PRESIDENT OF GHANA?

WHO IS THE PRESIDENT OF AMERICA?

WHO IS THE CHAIRMAN OF KUMASI ASANTE KOTOKO FOOTBALL TEAM?

WHAT IS THE NAME OF THE CAPITAL TOWN OF EASTERN REGION OF GHANA?

WHERE IS THE MAIN CAMPUS OF THE PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY LOCATED?

WHICH CITIES IN GHANA ARE KNOWN AS THE TWIN-CITY?

WHICH PARTY IS NANA AKUFFO ADDO?

ALL THE PEOPLE IN VOLTA REGION SPEAK ONLY EWE LANGUAGE.....TRUE/FALSE

WHAT DOES G.P.R.T.U STAND FOR ?

WHO IS THE DISTRICT/MUNICIPAL/METROPOLITAN CHIEF EXECUTIVE OF THE DISTRICT WHERE YOU LIVE?

Thanks for your efforts. It is always good to take some small What Do You Know:

How many of the questions did you get it right?
Which one was the easiest question and why?
In all, we can assure you that many of us will not even get 6 answers right..........But is it our fault?

There are many things in our lives that we often take for granted. Knowledge is power the experts say, so it is very important for us to try as much as possible to seek knowledge wherever we find ourselves. Knowledge helps us to make informed choices; it also gets us the job; it opens many doors to us; our status simply increases because of our knowledge;we can prevent accidents; we travel without problems with the right information; we are even able to let our relationships grow or end; we never become victims when we have the knowledge..............the lists goes on and on.

Recently in Ghana the government had given directives through the Ghana Education Service for all schools to post the photo of the President of Ghana in their schools. Many people argued against that directives and branded it as a political move to score points................Well, those who argued against that are entitled to their own opinions but did they ask why those directives were necessary at the time?

Reports filtering to us was that a pupil in a school in a rural community was asked a question, who was the President of Ghana and he happily raised the hands only to say NANA AKUFFO ADDO. Hahahahaha, you will say but it also points to some missing link in our development and growth as a nation.........lack of knowledge on right topics at the right time.............why the pupil mentioned Nana's name.....we will leave it up to you to think about it.

As citizens of a country it is our duty and responsibility to try to learn as much as possible about it so that we do not become victims of the law. For example, how many of you know the name of the Police chief of the police station closest to where you live?

How many of you know the location of the nearest police station in the communitiies or your neighborhood? How many of you know the names of your community leaders and elected representatives ? We know you are asking........"Why Should I Care about all These People?" Interesting! Isn't it?

Well, what do you do when your security is threatened.....for example when armed robbers attack your home..........? Do you have the phone number of the Police Station or Post nearest you? Does your community have a good relationship with the local authorities? Do you have a Town Watch Dog Community at where you live?

To our respectable women, if you become a victim of domestic violence or rape (God forbid )
do you know what to do? Do you know the Constitution of Ghana?
What does it say about your FUNDAMENTAL BASIC RIGHTS?

Is it any wonder that the new chairperson of the CHRAJ Miss Anna Bossman recently said that many Ghanaians need education on Human Rights Issues?

Tomorrow is United Nation's Human Rights Day.....our question is " What do you know about Human Rights in Ghana?

Well, knowledge we repeat is power, this is why it is important for us to know something or more about our environment. It is therefore an honour for we at the Centre for Human Development & Social Change to call on all Ghanaians to seek Knowledge and be empowered. You are here on ModernGhana, your number one source for authentic Ghanaian and African news, take advantage and learn as much as you can and share it with friends and relatives. This is our way of sharing the knowledge we have, What is Yours..........?

DO SOMETHING FOR YOUR COMMUNITY.

Be blessed wonderful people.

Just in....
