Tarkwa, Nov. 3 - GNA - The Tarkwa Circuit Court on Wednesday sentenced Wisdom Klutsey, a 21-year-old cocoa Caretaker to five years imprisonment for inflicting cutlass wounds on a fellow farmer.
He pleaded guilty to the charge.
Prosecuting, Police Inspector Edward Paddy said on October 4, this year, at Afful Cottage near Enchi, Klutsey engaged the services of Simon Adzri, the complainant and eight others to crack cocoa pods on his farm.
Around 0945 hours, Simon asked why no food had been provided for the labourers.
Inspector Paddy said Klutsey became offended by the demand for food and ordered Simon to leave the farm.
He said Simon remained adamant and Klutsey slashed his left hands and head with a cutlass.
Inspector Paddy said the witnesses quickly rushed Simon to the Enchi Government hospital for treatment.
He said the accused, sensing danger, used an object to bruise his right wrist and rushed to lodge a compliant against Simon.
