Management Training Lancashire

Some think management skills are something you are born with - you either know how to do it or you don't. Well, while I can agree any individual manager can either do it or he can't - I do not agree a person is only born with it. Like any other skill, from brick laying and carpentry to navigating a plane or fixing mobile phones managing people and parts of a company involves having a knowledge of how and then experience will, for sure, add to it. But you do need to have the knowledge - the data and the know how. It does exist and it can be learned and it does make a difference.

Imagine trying to do the Christmas dinner, if you have never done one before and you haven't read Delia's book. Not knowing how long to leave it in an oven, how hot it should be, to remove the entrails first etc. Let's face it - that is going to be a dogs' dinner rather than a Christmas one. But what was missing - you weren't born to cook dinner - or watching a number of TV chef programs, studying a book and a little practice.

So why is it when it comes to managing a company one is supposed to just natively know?

That's not all - there worse! There exists, in my opinion, all manner of poor, false and nonsense data about how management is done. New trainees pick up this false data from TV, older "successful" executives, movies - you name it. It is astonishing how much nonsense data is out there as to how things should be done. Many unions think they are supposed to be at war with the management of the company. Many managers think they are at war with the unions - the idea they are all one big team that are supposed to be working together is considered a strange idea. Yet you show me a company were the "workers" and the "management" are at war and I'll show you a company not much longer for this world. By the way - most Executives work hard and most employees manage their zones of work well.

I think if all members of a company sat down together and studied how to manage and organize as a team to do a better job than the competition and survive the taxes of the country they'd all do a great deal better. There is a technology to know, it makes sense and it is very valuable indeed to learn it and use it. I do.
