Kumasi Asante Kotoko  defender Harrison Afful is currently trying-out at Swedish Alsvenskan side Helsingborg IF after earning a one-week invitation.

The 22-year-old left-back was unsuccessful in his bid to secure a contract abroad last week after Norwegian side Stabaek denied him a contract.

“ It is an interesting player who has a good eye for the game and he is also technical. I'm sure that he is going to be left wide leader, he is the best left foot but has good strikes with both feet,” said head coach Bo Nilsson.

Afful has been unattached since his contract with local side Asante Kotoko expired in June.

He has been capped 10 times for the Black Stars and wants to maintain his place in the set-up ahead of next year's joint 2010 Nations Cup/World Cup qualifiers.

On Friday, he made his first training session with Helsingborg and will play his first match against Manchester City U21 team tomorrow.

Afful is one of seven players trying out at the club including another Ghanaian youngster and team-mate at Feyenoord Yaw Frimpong.
