
The Nzema East District Police are holding a 55-year-old woman for allegedly killing the eight-year-old daughter of the head of a prayer camp.
Awuraba Nyameke Amoah, the suspect, who was being treated of suspected mental problems by Osofo Esther Obaa Yaa at Anwia in the Ellembelle District of the Western Region, on July 22 broke the chains that held her at the Nakaba Garden, ran amok and butchered the little girl.
The District Police Commander, Assistant Superintendent of Police Dan Ohene-Djan, told the Ghana News Agency that Awuraba Amoah broke the chain on her leg, picked a cutlass in the kitchen and butchered the 8-year-old who was among a number of people sleeping in the compound.
The girl was taken to the Eikwe Catholic Mission Hospital where she died. Awuraba Amoah been placed in police custody.
