The Police at Aflao are holding a 30-year-old man who allegedly murdered his two-and-half year old daughter at their home at Duta, a farming village near the Diamond Cement Factory at Aflao.

Bogah Dorfor was said to have battered his daughter, Victoria on the head with a club. Some residents in the community told the GNA that they believe it was for ritual purposes, but others blamed it on evil spirits.

According to the residents, the suspect claimed that while in the house with his children in the evening, a strange bird attacked him and tried to peck him on his genitals.

According to them Dorfor picked a stick and lashed at the bird's head until it died but found out later that the dead bird had transformed into his own daughter and raised an alarm.

The Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in charge of crime at Aflao, Baba Moro, said a member of the community reported the incident after he traced a strange noise to the suspect's house while he was delivering the final strokes.

The body of the two-and-half year old girl was found with a bloated head.
