The trial involving Akonta Mining Limited and its owner, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, has been adjourned to June 16 for the continuation of cross-examination of a prosecution witness.

The case forms part of ongoing national efforts to clamp down on illegal mining activities and enforce environmental regulations across Ghana.

Authorities allege that the company was involved in unauthorized mining operations, including activities within protected forest reserves, raising concerns about environmental degradation and compliance with mining laws.
