Tarim Oilfield generates over 1.1 bln kWh of green electricity this year #coolchina

The Tarim Oilfield in northwest China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region has generated more than 1.1 billion kilowatt-hours of green electricity since the beginning of this year, PetroChina said on Sunday. The clean power was generated by using solar energy resources around the Taklimakan Desert. To date, the oilfield has built five centralized photovoltaic power stations in areas including Qiemo and Yecheng, with the total installed capacity reaching 2.6 million kilowatts. New solar projects of a combined capacity of 1.8 million kilowatts are also expected to be completed at the oilfield this year. Located in the Taklimakan Desert, the Tarim Oilfield is China's third-largest onshore oil and gas field, the largest ultra-deep oil and gas production base, and a primary gas source for China's west-to-east gas transmission project. #xinjiang #oilfields
