The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Atewa East has announced a new strategy to demobilize seized chanfans used in illegal mining activities. The machines will be cut into pieces using gas welders and later sold as scrap, with proceeds going to the Atewa East District Assembly. The initiative forms part of broader efforts to combat illegal mining (galamsey) while also generating revenue for local development.
