Crazy Ideas To Confront And Defeat COVID-19 - A Crazy Existential Threat To Mother Ghana?

The lockdown to contain COVID-19 must be carried out now, nationwide, for a month. And digital money created by the Bank of Ghana ought to be deposited into new accounts with it for all Ghanaians, to enable them cope with this sudden and dramatic disruption to their lives.

At least GHC2000 of the new BoG digital money should be deposited into every account, once the digital currency is created. It is the only way we will avoid catastrophe during the strictly enforced lockdown.

Faced with a virus that has the potential to kill millions of Ghanaians, and which can be prevented from infecting our people, by the simple act of washing hands under running water from taps, it is intolerable that public-sector employees tasked to produce and distribute potable water, lack the gumption and nous to do so, in such perilous times, regardless of the challenges they face. They have failed our nation.

That is why the Engineers Regiment of the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF), must take over the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), as soon as practicable - and ensure that Ghanaians have water nationwide.

Mining on streams, rivers and other water bodies across Ghana must be banned forthwith - and a shoot-to-kill policy to deal with all galamsayers adopted.

Using Raphael Afordoanyi's serendipitous game-changing clean power invention (for which he must be suitably compensated now, and given ownership of again, after the emergency is over), the military engineers, together with Raphael Afordoanyi, must collaborate to build desalination plants along our coastline, which will be able to produce potable water and truly affordable power, for all Ghana's coastal cities and towns, going forward into the future.

Raphael's invention will lower the production costs of the GWCL's other river-dependent production plants dramatically, too.

Finally, all the above will doubtless sound nonsensical to most clever people in Ghana, but extraordinary challenges of an existential nature, demand extreme solutions that won't make any sense to logical minds trained in our chew-and-pour educational system - but are indeed real and perfect solutions for the clear and present danger COVID-19 poses to our survival as a people. These are crazy ideas for dealing with a crazy existential threat to our nation and its people. Hmmmm, yoooo...
