John Mahama Should Learn to Humbly Accept Defeat

John Mahama

Shortly after the glorious enskinment of the new paramount chief of the Dagbon Traditional Area, former President John Dramani Mahama, who has been desperately fighting against hopelessness to be returned to power in 2021, so he and his Abongo Boys and Girls could loot the hard-earned wealth of the country, once more, as they did for some four-and-half years, was reported to have shamelessly taken to his Facebook Page to risibly and repulsively pat himself on the back for having supposedly worked hard to facilitate the end of the age-old Dagbon Crisis (See “New Dagbon: Let’s Celebrate Efforts of Successive Gov’ts – Mahama” 1/19/19). If I were Nana Akufo-Addo, I would sue this bastard till all hell breaks loose. This silly Gonja-boy once called The Okyenhene, Osagyefuo Amoatia Ofori-Panyin, II, and the people of Akyem-Abuakwa “denizens of the galamsey capital of Ghana.

Precisely which “successive governments” he was alluding to is best known to the former Presidential Spare-Tire of the late Prof. John Evans Atta-Mills. The fact of the matter is that nearly every single policy initiative that they ever attempted to take a shot at was royally bungled, including the Kufuor-minted National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS). And now, the megalomaniacal Narcissus has set his sights on dismantling the Akufo-Addo-implemented fee-free universal access to Senior High School by all able-bodied Ghanaian youths because, somehow, he thinks this progressive cultural initiative that was first modeled by President Kwame Nkrumah ought to be the exclusive preserve of only him and his ethno-regional kind. That is the sole agenda of this goro-discolored-toothed political freeloader for gunning for a second nonconsecutive term in office. Don’t write to tell me that I should restrain my penchant to verbal abuse; the SOB deserves as much as he routinely dishes his intellectual, moral and political superiors.

Indeed, about the best that the Mills-Mahama Posse could so about the savage slaying of Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani, II, was to indiscriminately and recklessly round up and scandalously attempt to prosecute Dagbonites who were barely toddlers at the time of the primitive decapitation of Ya-Naa Yakubu Andani, II, as prime suspects of this most heinous crime. They would actually use our current Independent Special Public Prosecutor, Mr. Martin ABK Amidu, to cheaply and senselessly and roguishly attempt to scapegoat and railroad totally innocent people in order to score cheap political points. Mr. Amidu would later wistfully claim that he had literally been pushed into the middle of a jejune cheap-point-scoring prosecutorial process that he knew a diddly little or absolutely nothing about.

Prior to this scam, the key operatives of the then-opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) had been haranguing and pooh-poohing the cabinet appointees of the John Agyekum-Kufuor-led government of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) for either being simply callous and insensitive or grossly incompetent to resolve the Dagbon Crisis. It would take nearly 17 years and on the watch of a leader of the Danquah-Busia-Dombo-inspired New Patriotic Party to definitively resolve this protracted conundrum. Indeed, even as I write, I am thinking of whether any way could be found to compensate these defenseless political scapegoats who were gratuitously arrested, embarrassed and thoroughly humiliated for absolutely no reason other than their obvious lack of clout and vulnerability. That is precisely how these NDC Abongo Boys and Girls operate; they are unconscionable bullies who would stop at nothing to score cheap political points.

Smugly presuming to celebrate or take undue credit for the yeomanly achievements of his successor, to wit, President Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo, for progressively and constructively opening up a new chapter on the Dagbon Chieftaincy Crisis was all to be expected of a morally and administratively bankrupt faux-social democrat who is too haughty and too full of himself to humbly recognize the fact that he has absolutely no talent or statesmanship skills to run an energy-generating plant, let alone a major nation like the Democratic Republic of Ghana. It was also all-to-be-expected that Mr. Mahama would be too wracked with envy to even mention the name of the leader whose genius talent and human-relations skills brought it all together in one piece, as it were, that bona fide indigene of Akyem-Abuakwa and the land whose paramount chief and people this Gonja urchin once had the temerity to verbally abuse in the leadup to the 2016 general election, and snootily thumb his nose at and dub as the denizens of the “Galamsey Capital of Ghana.”

It sadly appears that Mr. Mahama and his followers, supporters and sympathizers firmly believe that their nauseating touch-and-go approach to governance is all that there is to good governance and the development of the country. But Ghanaians, especially those from the northern-half of the country, whom the Mahama Posse have been taking for granted for quite a while now, have wised up and become darn too sophisticated enough to be facilely taken for a ride the second time around. It is also too soon for the residents and inhabitants of the so-called Three-Northern-Regions, soon-to-be the Five Northern-Regions, to forget the veritable scam that was the so-called Savannah Accelerated Development Authority (SADA), the Guinea-Fowl Saga and the criminal stuffing up of the wallets, purses and passbooks of Mahama cronies and associates like the scumbag operatives of the GYEEDA, GUBAH, SUBAH and Asongtaba scams at the expense and in the name of the hardworking people of the North.

Indeed, so criminal was the Mahama Racket that recently Mr. Alban SK Bagbin, a fellow northerner and the longest-serving National Democratic Congress’ Member of Parliament, suggested during an electioneering campaign that it was about time the country’s Fourth-Republican Constitution got amended in order to enable blood-dripping criminal politicians like former President John Dramani Mahama to be indicted and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law for crimes committed against the people of Ghana. In other words, in the opinion of the Nadowli-Kaleo MP and Second-Deputy Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, Mr. Mahama is the last Ghanaian leader who ought to be patting himself on the back for having assiduously worked to facilitate the definitive end to the age-old Yendi Chieftaincy Crisis.

In other words, instead of rudely and cavalierly presuming to take a major credit for the resolution of the infamous Dagbon Chieftaincy Dispute, as it became known at some point in time, Mr. Mahama ought to be explaining precisely why he thinks that he and/or his government deserves to take a significant part of the credit for the definitive resolution of the same. Merely stringing up such irritably grandstanding phrases and clauses as “After many years of hard work, negotiations, long meetings, disagreements, traditional considerations and agreements, we celebrate the efforts of successive governments for this day” will not wash.

Ghanaians need to know precisely what aspects of the Dagbon Chieftaincy Crisis’ Resolution Roadmap the Mills-Mahama regime(s) facilitated. This is very significant because there is absolutely no evidence indicating that the Mahama government made any serious attempt to retrieve Mr. Alfred Agbesi Woyome’s stolen public wealth. Then again, there is absolutely no way for a pathological freeloader like Mr. Mahama to be afforded free rein to get away with such whole-cloth of lies vis-à-vis the definitive resolution of the Dagbon Chieftaincy Crisis.
