Angry Menzgold Customers Reiterate Disappointment In Gov’t

The Coalition of Aggrieved Customers of Menzgold has reiterated their disappointed in government for not putting in place measures to retrieve their monies from the gold dealership firm for them.

During a demonstration to express their grievances as well as to petition the Central Bank of Ghana yesterday, they angry customers observed that Government could have stepped in to retrieve their money for them when they realized the gold trading firm did not have the license to operate.

“We are even disappointed in the Government and the agencies because if you know Menzgold has no legal license to operate, you only have to bring in structures and think of the customers to be able to pay the customers”, leader of the Coalition Ben Timothy said.

He added “If they knew that company has no license they were supposed to sit with the company and then think of we the investors so that they put structures in place to pay us off”.

They also stated that Menzgold is lucky they did not take them to court like how they took the Bank of Ghana (BoG) and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) to court. Whiles demanding to be paid the amount of money they paid as principal, they have cautioned Menzgold that if they do not receive it they will follow up with more demonstrations.

“The company Menzgold has seek to fight for his rights that is why He sent BoG and SEC to court. And we customers also have our rights. They are even lucky we didn’t send them to court but we are doing a peaceful demonstration against them. After this demonstration if we don’t see any positive results or action we are going to do couples of demonstrations more than this one and we are even going to petition the embassies”.

Meanwhile an advisor to the Bank of Ghana Benjamin Amoah has urged the angry Menzgold customers to stay calm as they make efforts to resolve the problem at hand.

“I want to take this opportunity to urge you to be patient and that we will do all we can in collaboration with the other stakeholders and related authorities and make sure this is resolved amicably”, he said.
