A Fading World: A Hopeless Hope

When the Iconic apple co- founder was faced with a terrible issue of pancreatic cancer and eventually lived his life as a tale told, Bill Gate was interviewed in 2012 on what he thinks about Steve Job’s death, he replied: “Job’s illness and death exemplifies a great lesson and that is man must think of a more important stuff because you have limited time”. Apple is still speaking volumes of impact on this generation but the founder is gone, and when the friend of the founder was interviews he said: “man must give attention to important stuff because we have limited time”.

My question is what was he referring to as: “important stuff?”. What again could be important than building an App that will have a generational impact on nations, solve unemployment issues and have a monument of national impact. What could be more significant than a man marrying and having beautiful kids and travelling across the globe and having fun? What could be more important than the amassing the certificates on earth and been relevant on every board meeting. This should be all about life, right?

Paul said in 1st Corinthians chapter Fifteen verses Nineteen: “If our hope is in this life alone, then we are of ALL men most miserable”. Guys, please for God’s sake this is Apostle Paul talking not a new convert. He is saying if our entire hope is centered on duplexes which is in this world, if our entire hope is concerning money and women which is only temporal in this world then we are of all men most miserable. This world that people don’t care to sacrifice their parent for a property, sacrifice their lifetime for temporally pleasure, rob a bank just for daily bread, gossip about folks just to feel accepted, go to the herbalist just to have number of people trooping your church, organize wars and woes and deprive innocent lives of daily bread just to have some millions in their political offices which is also temporal. Paul is saying if it is in this life alone that we have our hopes then we are of all men miserable. Hmmmm

In this world, the rich person dies and another strange man from a strange background comes to share his properties, people get rich and marry two-three wives and the next morning they are divorcing, a young man starts school and he is not even sure whether he will graduate, she starts a career and the next day the boss want to sleep with her, you check the news a teacher is having an affair with a student, you check social media, a man has taken his own biological son for rituals, the next day the banks are either consolidating or collapsing, just when you are recovering from the shock, there is an armed-robbery attacks against your life, you chat with a friend yesterday and today you see his obituary on your wall, Aarrh. Is this the kind of world you want to build all your hopes on? Well, Apostle Paul said if that is your ambition then you are of all men the most miserable.

Jesus ended this once and for all by saying: Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moths and vermin destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven…where thieves do not break in and steal”. Many people have forgotten this so they can kill another man just to take up his position, listen to me: you have no place in the kingdom, bible said you are of all men most miserable. The entire whole world lies in wickedness meaning this wicked world doesn’t guarantee security. So, should we stop building and stop getting rich? No sir, never. Jesus is addressing priorities not carelessness. The kingdom of God must be our priority.

God help us and deliver us from worldliness.
Lord Jesus! detach my soul, my heart and spirit from the lustful desires of this world and cause me to walk daily in your light. In JESUS’ NAME, Amen
