Ghana international Kevin-Prince Boateng scored on his debut in the Spanish top-flight on Monday night, helping Las Palmas to a shock 4-2 away win over giants Valencia.

The Germany-born player provided the perfect response to his critics who had concluded that he was finished after being flogged by AC Milan at the end of last season.

Having joined the struggling club in the off-season Boateng warmed himself to coach Quique Setien during their training sessions.

The Ghanaian was handed a start and was pivotal as they raced into a commanding lead before Boateng scored in the 31st minute to make his mark in Spanish football.

After playing in some of the top leagues in the world for Hertha Berlin, Tottenham Hotspur, Borussia Dortmund, Portsmouth, AC Milan (twice) and Schalke, Boateng moved to Spain on a one-year contractwith Las Palmas this summer.

The 29-year-old midfielder instantly repaid the faith when rising to head in the make the score 3-1.

Ex-Liverpool ace Nabil El Zhar whipped a cross from the right and Boateng dove to steer home the fine header.

He becomes the sixth player in history to score in the four major leagues in Europe after scoring in the English Premier League, German Bundesliga, Italian Serie A and now in the La Liga.
