Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, vice presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), appears to be giving Koku Anyidoho, deputy general secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), some sleepless nights.

Anyidoho, who in recent times has been casting aspersions on the NPP vice presidential candidate, has threatened to drag him (Dr. Bawumia) to court.

He alleges that Dr. Bawumia issued fictitious documents to the Electoral Commission (EC), with the sole aim of compelling the commission to produce a new voter register for the country ahead of this year's polls.

Koku Anyidoho insists that Dr. Bawumia had committed a serious crime by peddling blatant falsehood to deceive a public officer and a public office hence, his intention to haul Dr. Bawumia to court to face the law.

The NDC man, who sounded angry, stated that if the Supreme Court could sentence the three Montie FM contemnors to four months in prison, then he was convinced that Dr. Bawumia also merits being dragged to court.

“Dr. Bawumia gave fictitious document to the EC to compel the electoral body to reject the existing electoral roll and manufacture a new one,” Mr. Anyidoho claimed during an interview with Kwame Adinkra of Abusua FM in Kumasi.

He added, “Dr. Bawumia intentionally deceived the EC, which is a public office and its Chairperson, Charlotte Osei, who is a public official, which is a criminal offence; so I will haul him to the law courts soon to test the law.”

Mr. Anyidoho vowed to do everything within his power to ensure that the vice presidential candidate of the largest opposition political party in the country is dragged to the law courts over his “false claims.”

He said the NPP bigwig gave out some names, which he (Bawumia) claimed were just 10 percent of Togolese nationals in Ghana's voter register, recalling that Dr. Bawumia promised to produce the rest of the foreign names in the register.

The NDC scribe noted however, that Dr. Bawumia had for so many months now “failed woefully” to produce the rest of the names of the foreigners that he (Bawumia) claimed were in the register.

The NDC has been trying hard to throw mud at Dr Bawumia but much as they try, it refuses to stick.
