A new dining hall for Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School dedicated

Saltpond (C/R), Feb. 22, GNA – A dining hall which can accommodate about 2,500 students constructed for Mfantsiman Girls Senior High School at a cost of GHȼ 483,899.95 has been dedicated.

The School's Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) which started the project to replace the old dining hall which could not accommodate the School population at ago, spent GHȼ 131,450 whilst the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) contributed GHȼ 352,449.95 to complete the project.

The Right Reverend Jeremiah A. Morrison, Chairman of the Board of Governors of the School and the former Bishop of the Winneba Diocese of the Methodist Church who performed the dedication commended the PTA and the Government for providing the School with one of the largest dining halls in the country.

He appealed to the School authorities and the students to take good care of the building to prolong the lifespan of the facility.

Madam Joana Felicity Dickson, the out-going Chairperson of the PTA expressed joy that their dream had materialised and expressed gratitude to the government for coming to their aid.

Ms Charlotte A. Addo, Headmistress of the school, thanked the PTA and the government for solving one of the greatest problems facing the school.

She said students had to take their meals in batches as the old dining hall could not contain them all at a time, adding that the situation let the students' waste time on their meals to the detriment of their studies.

The Rev Kwasi Boakye, School Chaplain assisted Rt Rev Morrison in the dedication.

In a related development, a four-unit self-contained staff quarters built by the PTA at a cost of GHȼ 158,995.97 to lessen the accommodation problem facing the tutors was also dedicated at the ceremony.
