Injured Ghana star Andre Ayew says victory against Uganda in their opening 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Friday is non-negotiable.
The Black Stars, three-time World Cup finalists, are favourites to beat the Cranes who are on cloud nine after recently qualifying for their first Nations Cup tournament in more than three decades.
Preparations have been chequered following the tension between the Ghana FA and the Sports Ministry.
Ayew, who is in town with Betway for an activation programme, says they cannot afford to make a fault start.
''It is a game we must win. We have no choice, but we need the support from Ghanaians. Without their support I don't think we can get the result we want,'' the West Ham star said at a football clinic in Accra on Wednesday.
''Is unfortunate I won't be available but my heart is with the team and I believe they can win for all Ghanaians on Friday.
''Uganda is a very strong side, they defeated us the last time we met them so we have to do all our best to avenge that defeat by winning against them.''
