Naa Ashorkor To Lead 2016 Millennium Marathon

Actress and broadcaster (Radio and Television), Naa Ashorkor Mensah-Doku has been selected as an Ambassador for the 2016 Millennium Marathon race.

The screen goddess (Naa Ashorkor) speaking in an interview on Monday, August 29, 2016 expressed her delight as the chosen one for this project and her readiness to taking part as well.

“I must confess that I was delighted when I got the call that I have been selected for this project,” she said.

“So this year I’ll be running, I have been training for it unlike last year. Last I just took part without training. I hope to win a medal, I know I cannot win the car because I will not be running the 21Kilometer race, I will be running 5.5 Kilometers, and next year probably I will run 21 K and win the car,” Naa Ashorkor explained.

According to the Starr [103.5] FM radio host fitness is a lifestyle rather than a hobby as many people see it.

“Fitness is a lifestyle. Some people see it as a hobby, but it should be a lifestyle because when you live in it, you avoid lots of health problems and that is something that is scientifically proven,” she noted.

Naa Ashorkor further advised the general public the need to participate in this all important exercise which comes but once a year.

“A lot people are thinking they shouldn’t take part in this marathon because they have not trained for it but to them I will say this can be the first step towards a healthy lifestyle”

“It is not a competition. You do not have to win it by all means. You can just take part and know that on this day, 3^rd September, you started a new journey towards fitness and health,” Naa Ashorkor added.

The coveted prize at stake for this year’s Millennium Marathon is a brand new Peugeot car. Apart from the vehicle to be won, an amount of GHc 40,000 as well as many prizes from sponsors is for grabs.

Another innovation to this year’s competition is the wheelchair racing, aimed at giving those who are physically challenged the opportunity to also exhibit their skills.

In all, over fourty-thousand (40,000) local and international athletes are expected to take part in this year’s competition, which comes off on Saturday, September 3, 2016 in Accra, Ghana.
