Barcelona confirm £12.83 million move for goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen

Barcelona have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from Ajax for a fee of £12.83 million, paving the way for Claudio Bravo to join Manchester City

Barcelona have confirmed the arrival of 27-year-old goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen for a fee of £12.83 million.

The Ajax goalkeeper posted on his Twitter account that he hadsigned for the Catalan club and they confirmed it shortly afterwards.

The fee will be broke up into two parts with £11.11 million paid up front to Ajax with a possible £1.71 million to follow. His buy-out clause will be £51,31 million.

Cillessen signed a five-year contract and he could make his debut for the club at the weekend against Athletic Bilbao.

The Dutch international played on Wednesday evening in the Champions League against Rostov, where he was beaten four times, but he will not be cup-tied.

The transfer is expected to pave the way for Chile goalkeeper Claudio Bravo to join Manchester City, which will signal the end of Joe Hart's time at the club.

New City manager Pep Guardiola has made it clear that he wants a goalkeeper who is comfortable with his feet and doesn't deem Hart to be up to the required standard, despite the England No.1 and completing 90% of his passes against Steaua Bucharest on Wednesday.

With Bravo leaving Cillessen will be left to compete with Marc-Andre ter Stegen for the No.1 spot in Luis Enrique's team.
