Hearts of Oak have become the first Ghanaian club to surpass 50,000+ likes on social networking site Facebook.

This is a huge achievement for the capital-based after raking the numbers in 15 months of creating the page.

Hearts managed to pull it off without PAYING to promote or sponsor their page like some corporate institutions do.

The Phobians also have 27, 280 followers on micro-blogging site Twitter and also 6,292 followers on Instagram.

A Twitter message read: "THANK-YOU: Accra Hearts of Oak thanks each and every one of you for helping us to reach 50,000 LIKES on Facebook...."

Social media have reshaped the way fans stay connected to clubs and Hearts are taking advantage.

In Ghana, other Ghanaian clubs like Inter Allies, Dreams FC, WAFA and Liberty Professionals are active on social media.

This feat negates assertions that the Ghana Premier League is unattractive.
