Chairman of the Ghana National Paralympic Committee (NPC), Bishop Adjah Coffie has said that his outfit is faced with huge financial constraints with just two weeks to the start of the 15th Summer Paralympic Games in Rio, Brazil.

Speaking in an interview at a special fund-raising launch on Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at the Accra Sports Stadium, Bishop Coffie expressed the spirit behind the exercise.

“It’s been very difficult. We have virtually two weeks to go and funding is becoming a challenge that is the main purpose we are floating this fund raising out there in public, it’s been quite a challenge,” he said.

“We have scaled down the budget to about $150,000 with a component of about GHc50,000. That is virtually the budget we are looking for, which is not something out of the roof,” he added.

He, however, reckoned that their biggest challenge is getting it done as early as possible.

Bishop Coffie further reiterated that #TeamGhana will not be made up of more than 10 athletes, including their coaches, the President and the Secretary General.

Expected to make Ghana proud in Brazil are; Alem Mumuni (Para cyclist), Charles Teye Narh (Power lifter), and Yusif Hamadu (High jumper).

The Paralympic Games is a multi-sport event designed for physically challenged athletes and it’s governed by the International Paralympic Committee (IPC).

The 2016 Summer Paralympic Games, otherwise known as the Jogos Paralimpicos de Verao de 2016 will be held in Rio, Brazil from September 7-18
