Christian Atsu: Torino close in on Chelsea winger

Ghana winger Christian Atsu is set to join Torino on a season-long loan.

Atsu joined the Blues in 2013 but is yet to make a single Premier League appearance for the club and spent the 2013/14 and 2014/15 campaigns on loan with Vitesse Arnhem and Everton respectively.

He started last season with Chelsea's Premier League rivals Bournemouth, but played just twice for the Cherries before being shipped out to to La Liga club Malaga.

His chances of making his way into Antonio Conte's plans appear slim though and, according to Italian transfer expert David Amoyal, Torino boss Sinisa Mihajlovic wants to offer him a route out of his west London limbo.

The Serie A side have allegedly made contact with Chelsea in an attempt to secure a season-long switch for Atsu, who has two years to run on his current contract.

And their hopes of landing the Ghana star could be boosted by the fact they already have his international team-mate Afriyie Acquah on their books.

The Blues began their 2016/17 campaign with a 2-1 victory over West Ham on Monday.

They resume their title challenge when they travel to Watford this Saturday.
