Medeama kept their chances of qualifying to the semifinal of the CAF Confederations Cup alive with a 3-2 win against African Giants TP Mazembe.

Prior to the game the management of the club pleaded with the GFA to shift all Premier League matches to Saturday in a bid to get more fans troop to the stadium to support and cheer the team.

The FA heeded to their call and deputy spokesperson of the club, Patrick Akoto, says the decision of the FA to grant them their request played a pivotal role in their win on Sunday as the stadium was almost filled to capacity.

“I think it aided us a lot and we had perhaps the biggest crowd at the venue and if not for the activities of the two major political parties NDC and NPP on that same Day, we would have recorded the highest number of supporters in that stadium or the stadium will be filled to capacity,” he told Joy Sports

“The decision to move the Premier League games forward and allow us play on Sunday alone really paid dividend and we are gratefully to the authorities of the GFA.”

Medeama will need just a draw to qualify to the next round of the competition when they come up against MO Bejaia in Algeria in a fortnight’s time. The first leg ended in a goalless draw.
