League Report Ghana Premier League: Hearts of Oak seek to make amends against Techiman City
AUG 13, 2016 LISTEN

Hearts of Oak will be hosting Techiman City on match day 24 of the 2016 Ghana Premier League on Saturday at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Phobians in their last three games have failed to pick up a win - drawing two and losing one but despite their unimpressive display they will be playing against a side who have not won an away game in the ongoing campaign.

Hearts of Oak in their last league game had their unbeaten away record broken as they lost 3-0 to WAFA while Techiman City also in their last game had their home invincibility got broken following their 1-0 loss to Ebusua Dwarfs.

Hearts of Oak are second on the league log with 39 points while the Premier League debutants are 12th with 29 points.

The two sides will be going into the game with the hope of returning to winnings ways as the Phobians will be looking to leapfrog Wa All Stars who will be playing as guests to Dwarfs in Cape Coast while the Techiman based side will be aiming to boost their position on the log sheet.

Hearts of Oak forward Cosmos Dauda ahead of the game said they have to beat Techiman City to keep their title dream alive.

'Last weekend we went to Sogakope with the hope of winning but we sadly lost and it is a big wake up call to us so we have to rewrite the wrong against Techiman City,' Dauda told Pulse.com.gh.

'We have to beat Techiman City at all cost in order to keep our title dream alive because Wa All Stars will be playing away and if they lose and we win we will definitely be going top of the table. We want the fans to come to the stadium to support us because we need their support.'

But Techiman City experienced forward Ibrahim Isaaka believes avoiding a defeat in Accra will help them in their quest to beat the drop zone.

'We have not won away in the ongoing league, we know Hearts of Oak will be coming into the game as a wounded lion following their 3-0 loss to WAFA, we are also poised to do something because we also lost at home to Dwarfs,' Issaka told Pulse.com.gh.

'If we avoid defeat in Accra it will ease pressure on us regarding our fight to escape relegation so we are going all out against Hearts of Oak on Saturday.'

Match facts
Hearts of Oak have played Techiman City only once since the Techiman based side got promoted to the Ghana Premier League in the 2015/16 league season.

That game came off at the Techiman Park as the Phobians held them to a goalless draw on 10th April 2016.
