Jeff Bagerbaseh v Fracis Akpese
In quarterfinals action Thursday, Jeff defeated Bernard No.4 seed Armah Ashitey 6-4, 7-6(6), and Francis Akpese took out Fed Egyir 7-6(0) (r). Jeff is in the semifinals of the Atta Mills Memorial Tournament to nobody’s surprise. His opponent Francis Akpese is a semifinalist for the first time and will be one of the biggest underdogs in tennis history.

The two men shoulder completely different expectations. Jeff became the favorite when he defeated Current Ghana No.1 Wisdom Na-Adjrago. Francis Akpese , many tennis fans might write off the match as a minor stepping stone for Jeff to reach the finals, there is always the possibility that the Francis can pull off the upset.

The two have already faced each other three times all, with Jeff getting the better of Francis each time.

No.2 Benjamin Fumi v Daniel Quartey
Does Quartey have the firepower to make it to the final? Normally you’d say yes given his dynamic hitting, but after Fumi’s powerful display to oust Isaac Titriku in straight sets in the quarterfinals, he might actually be outgunned on Friday.

No.2 seed Fumi , still has some hard work to do before getting his hands on the title for the first time, Fumi’s road to the title must go through Quartey. Fumi leads the head to head against Quartey, 3-0. But that record is not as close as it seems. It’s no surprise that Quartey emphasized his need to stay mentally strong from first ball to last.
