League Report GPL PREVIEW: Ashgold coach Mambo 'proud of players' but disappointed with draw
JUL 28, 2016 LISTEN

Acting Ashanigold head coach Yakubu Mambo admitted after Ashantigold’s 1-1 draw with Hearts of Oak that he’s not happy with just the one point but proud of every other aspect of the game.

The Miners’ Acting boss gambled by starting Anthony Yerful against the Phobians a move that obviously paid off as the attacking midfielder scored a classic goal to snatch a point from the Phobians.

Speaking with Asempa FM after the match, Mambo hailed his team after the quality they showed.

“I’m not happy with a point to be fair,” he said, “but I’m happy with everything else because they were once again amazing.”

“It was a quality game, but one where we would both have been happy with some things and not with some other things with spells in the match.

“Their keeper had made a couple of great saves in the entire game.

“After they scored, it was all us, until we equalised.

“In the end, it was fair result, but we are never happy when we don’t win at away. We are trying to win away game and this is a game we could have used to turned the table around but unfortunately we could not.”

“I am proud of the players because with this point, my players have showed their character and their quality.”

Ashantigold won the league last season but have been struggling this term winning only four, drawing fourteen and four defeats after 22 matches in the Ghana Premier league.
