Ghana Premier League: AshantiGold Come Back To Draw 1-1 With Hearts Of Oak

AshantiGold Sporting Club came from behind to secure a deserving draw against Hearts of Oak on matchday 22 of the 2015/2016 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Wednesday.

After lots of jostling around with the ball without testing Abdoulaye Soulama by the AshantiGold attackers, the Phobians took the lead in the 30^th minute from Robin Gnagne’s spot kick.

Patrick Razak raced onto Isaac Mensah’s long pass into AshantiGold’s penalty area, goalkeeper Fatau Dauda came out to challenge for the ball, but the referee thought the goalie had fouled the attacker and whistled for a penalty which the captain (Robin Gnagne) elected himself to shoot his side ahead.

The goal did not alter the phase of the match as the soccer miners (AshantiGold) kept dictating the pace of the game whilst Hearts of Oak kept chasing shadows.

Osei Baffour, Amos Addai, and Mumuni Shafiu wrecked the Hearts defence apart on a couple of occasions, but the final delivery lacked the golden touch.

However, Amos Addai outwitted Thomas Abbey beautifully in the 40^th minute to set up Anthony Yerful who was lurking in the Hearts’ eighteen yard box to put AshantiGold on level.

The story wasn’t different in the second half as the visitors entertained the crowd with their aesthetic passing game. Meanwhile, Hearts central defender Inusah Musah was sent off late in the game for bringing down Amos Addai.

Hearts of Oak still lead the league table with 39 points whiles AshantiGold occupy the eleventh position with 26 points.
