Match Report: Asante Kotoko 1-1 Hearts of Oak - Patrick Razak silky finish earns point for Phobians
24.07.2016 LISTEN

Accra Hearts of Oak earned a point from Kumasi after holding rivals Asante Kotoko to a 1-1 stalemate at the Baba Yara Stadium.

Kwame Boateng fired Kotoko ahead in the first-half before Patrick Razak pecked the scoring for the Phobians.

Emmanuel Gyamfi reacted to Osei Agyemang's visionary weighted cross with a fabulous volley. Soulama Abdoulaye pulled a great stop but spilled the ball.

Kwame Boateng arrived in time to finish off with a clinical strike to the near-post though Soulama appeared to have gagged the space.

Kotoko looked composed in attack though they failed to establish dominance in the midfield battle.

Mustapha Essuman and Samudeen Ibrahim were undone by the Porcupine counterparts while Leonard Tawiah's impact was limited.

Patrick Razak was electrifying with his pace and tormented Evans Qauo in a series of lateral altercations.

The former FC Utrecht player aimed a bullet at Ernest Sowah's goal before bending a free-kick just wide.

Dauda Mohammed hit the sidenetting with a fierce low drive.

Meanwhile Frank Sarfo-Gyamfi and Kwame Boateng veered the Circles onto their feet with dazzling artistry while Samuel Kyere had the better of Isaac Mensah.

The biggest team news before kick off was the return of Soulama Abdoulaye and the absence of striker Cosmos Dauda. The Burkina Faso custodian's costly howler accounted for the 1-0 home reverse in the first-leg tie.

Michael Osei assembled a prolific attacking trident featuring Ghana U20 forward Dauda Mohammed, Emmanuel Gyamfi and Kwame Boateng.

Richard Akrofi was booked early in the second-half for a crude challenge on tormentor-in-chief Emmanuel Gyamfi.

Hearts tilted the game in their favour. Leonard Tawiah tailored in a fine cross and Razak employed his pace to win the ball and slit it home with Ernest Sowah stretched to his elastic limits.

Substitute Paul Acquah hit the side net after Musa Ibrahim squared a pass for him.
