Sports News O.B Amoah: Sports Ministry should address leaked document issue
JUL 22, 2016 LISTEN

Former Youth and Sports Minister O.B Amoah has urged the Ministry of Youth and Sports to respond to news making round the media about unclassified payment which has been termed as bribes to aid Ghana’s World Cup qualification in 2014.

A publication by a sports website leaked documents by Ghana’s Ministry of Youth and Sports citing government paid 'bribes' in 2014 .

This has raised several eyebrows across the length and breadth of the country and Amoah, who is the MP for Aburi/Nsawam constituency is calling on the Ministry to make a statement on the issue.

‘‘I was not in the Ministry when this occurred so it will be difficult for me to make a categorical statement, but what I expect is for the Ministry to come out and tell us the whole fact.

“I was also expecting the Ghana Football Association to voice out, which I understand they have, denying that fact.

“The Ministry should also come out to tell us whether indeed that information which came from them or the person who speculated had enough fact.”

“If Ghana is alleged to have compromised positions and paid moneys to be able to qualify to the World Cup is a very serious matter. I don’t think CAF or FIFA would just close their eyes on such things, probably sooner or later they may even ask the GFA to respond to this allegation.”
