JUL 9, 2016 LISTEN

Brazilian forward, Hulk joining Asamoah Gyan at SIPG in China saw pundits press the panic button by assuming the Ghanaian would be pushed out but his record holds better than two other strikers - Elkeson and Kouassi, in the team, which makes the thought naive.

Of injury challenge levelled at Asamoah Gyan at Shanghai  SIPG,  criticism of the world-class goal scorer would not hold water due to  a released Chinese statistics which depicts that, his less presence on the pitch and goal scoring ratio is more impressive than his two other striking partners.

Gyan has 0.58 perecent in 90 mins above his colleagues.

Certainly, SIPGs overdependence on Gyan has been chequered to say the least.

However, Brazilian Elkeson who joined from Ghuangzou Evergrande with high expectation has only scored five in 13 games and Jean Evrard Kouassi from Ivory Coast has also scored only eight in 31 games.

But just how good is Gyan?
Asamoah Gyan has 6 in 15 games with less time on the pitch. It shows, he doesn't need all the time to shine to make the difference; the statistic is enough for SIPG to know his full recovery would make him much deadlier.

For SIPG to get more of their pennies Gyan can turn up when it matters.

The signs of nagging injuries are a bother but not in terms of his scoring performance.

He is one who can produce one moment of magic when it matters. Even operating at about 70% of his capacity this season, some of his goals from open play have been delightful.

A football connoisseur would accept it is hard to find players in the top bracket of world football like Gyan, and harder still to get them to sign for a club hence, at this seminal moment it is not who is coming but it is about who can be relied on most.

Asamoah Gyan is looking to enhance his reputation and importance to SIPG in the coming years.

Surely, the point of a world-class player is that player you can rely on to consistently win you games for many years but it comes when you also stand for them in challenging times.
